If you’re running SIG Blomax machines, you know the headache of a lamp snapping mid-cycle. It’s a mess. You lose production time, and worse, you risk getting junk in your PET preforms. Usually, it comes down to the same two culprits: thermal stress or just plain old mechanical fatigue. We got tired of seeing it happen, so we built a reinforced replacement lamp that actually stands up to the grind. Getting the heat right These are designed to be simple drop-in replacements. No fuss. The real trick is balancing the wattage and voltage. You need those high-wattage shortwave lamps to get the PET softening fast, but that puts a massive amount of pressure on the quartz. If the quality is off, the filament starts to “sag” or bow under the heat. To stop that, we use high-purity quartz. It stays stable, even when things get scorching. No more loose connections Most lamps don’t actually fail in the middle; they fail at the pinch seal or the connector. Blowing machines vibrate. A lot. That shaking loosens the fit, creates an electrical arc, and then—pop—your terminal is fried. Whether you’re using R7s or SK-style connectors, we’ve beefed up the ends to make sure the fit is tight. No flickers, no arcs, just a solid connection. A quick heads-up on the setup You can swap these into your current oven without touching your wiring. It’s that easy. But here’s the thing: we can make the lamp tougher, but we can’t cheat physics. If you decide to crank up the wattage to speed up your cycles, your cooling blowers have to keep up. If the oven housing gets too hot, your preforms will start to deform. It doesn’t matter how long the lamp lasts if the heat has nowhere to go.
