
Stop Fighting with Your KHS Blow Molding Ovens
Ever pull a batch of PET bottles off the line only to find weird wall thickness or that annoying pearlescent haze? It’s frustrating. Usually, it means your heat distribution is off. When your lamps start acting up, it’s often because the wavelength has drifted or the filament isn’t centered. You end up with hotspots that mess up your plastic. That’s exactly why we built our replacement lamps for Chumpower-compatible systems. We wanted to kill those hotspots for good. The power side of things We don’t guess on the specs. These tubes are built to hit the exact voltage and wattage your KHS setup expects. We use high-wattage shortwave lamps because PET preforms need a quick, intense hit of energy to soften up properly. It’s about getting that heat deep into the plastic without scorching the surface. Just a heads-up: if you’re running these at full blast, your cooling fans are going to work harder. If your vents are clogged with dust, the ambient heat will eat your lamps alive. Clean your fans first. Why the glass matters We use high-purity quartz. Why? Because we don’t want the tube wall absorbing the infrared radiation. We want every bit of that energy hitting the preform. Installation is a breeze, too. We kept the tolerances tight so they just drop right in. Whether you’re dealing with R7s or special connectors, they fit snugly. No gaps, no arcing at the contact points, and—most importantly—no premature burn-outs that happen with the cheap stuff. What happens on the floor When you swap those old OEM lamps for these, those annoying “cold spots” usually vanish. We spent a lot of time on the filament’s linear density to make sure the heat spreads evenly from end to end. The result? Your preform temperature stays stable. You can tighten up your blowing parameters and stop throwing so much scrap in the bin. One last tip: polish your reflectors before you put the new lamps in. If your reflectors are dull, even the best lamp in the world can’t do its job.
