If you’ve spent any time around a Krones Contiform, you know the drill. Getting that heat distribution just right is a balancing act. One wrong move and you’re dealing with thin walls or that annoying pearlescent haze on your PET bottles. But here’s the real headache: OEM replacement costs. They can get ridiculous. That’s why most of us look for drop-in replacements—parts that do the job and match the original heat footprint without slowing down the line. The nitty-gritty on heat We build our quartz heater tubes to hit the exact wattage and voltage your Contiform oven expects. By using high-voltage setups, we can jam more infrared energy into every millimeter of the tube. What does that actually mean for you? Your preforms hit the right temperature faster. It’s efficient. Just a heads-up, though: keep an eye on your power supply. If you’ve got voltage spikes, those high-wattage filaments will burn out way sooner than they should. Materials and the “click” factor We use high-purity fused quartz. Why? Because we want the heat going into the PET, not getting trapped in the glass. And nobody wants to spend three hours rewiring a machine just to change a bulb. That’s why we use standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. They just slide right into your existing sockets. You might see some coated options available. These can help certain resins absorb heat better, but there’s a trade-off. Coated tubes usually don’t last quite as long as the clear ones. Use lint-free gloves. The oils from your skin create tiny stress points on the quartz. Once that tube hits operating temperature, those spots become cracks. It’s frustrating, but it’s physics. One last thing. If your cooling fans are choked with dust and grime, it doesn’t matter how fancy your quartz is. Your sockets will overheat and melt. Clean your fans, treat your tubes right, and the machine will take care of you.
